Indianapolis Churches Celebrate Together and Bridge Racial Divide

I was witness on Aug. 8 to an unbelievable event. East 91st Street Christian Church and a black church from the Martindale/Brightwood area gathered together to have a “Worship on the Mall” celebration on the Indiana War Memorial grounds.

It was so uplifting. It proved that blacks and whites could gather together without incident. There was music, dance, prayers, messages, food and counseling. Ministers from both churches shared their thoughts and prayers. They even supplied Communion packets so that we could partake together in this special way of celebrating God’s love.

I encourage the churches to continue this gathering because of the need in Indianapolis.
